"Ironically free. Baker - Miller pink edition"

Acrylics, inks on canvas, 40cm X 30 cm.

Still life, almost windless, where the water surface resembles a mirror, reflecting even the tiniest details. It’s peaceful and calm with a feeling of freedom and space to roam about, yet the boat is still “anchored”. It’s an allegorical interpretation of freedom whereby we need a “base” to either harmoniously perform in society or simply be able to appreciate the freedom we have. Many years ago I created a very similar version of this painting  in dark indigo with neon brush strokes. Today I chose a “baker-miller” pink that has a very interesting story itself. The colour became famous in 80s for its ability to disarm even the most contrasting emotions.
